Handwo using leftover idli batter ( Jain / No onion, No garlic)

Preparation time: 10 mins, cooking time:15 mins

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 cups idli batter
  • 1 cup Semolina
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1 glass water
  • 1 cup grated bottle gourd
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green capsicum
  • 1 tsp chopped green chilies
  • 2 tbsp ground nuts
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp fruit salt

For Tempering:

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp mustered seeds
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp curry leaves
  • 2 tsp green chilies

Recipe Preparation:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add idli batter, semolina salt, sugar and curd and rest it for 10 mins.
  2. Add some water, bottle gourd, carrot, capsicum, ground nuts, green chillies and mix it well. Constituency should be like idli batter.
  3. In a small frying pan add 2 tsp oil, temper mustered seeds, asafetida, curry leaves, sesame seeds and add that into batter.
  4. Add fruit salt and mix it well
  5. Now in another nonstick deep pan do same tempering as above and add 4 tbsp of batter and cover it with lid. Cook it for 8 mins and then turn it out and cook for another 8 to 10 mins.
  6. Serve it hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
