Sev khamani (Jain / No onion, No garlic)


Preparation time: 10 mins, Cooking time: 10 mins

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 3 cups split began gram
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp green chili paste
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3-4 tsp water
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

For Tempering:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustered seeds
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • 1 tsp green chilies
  • 1/2 glass it water
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • For Garnishing:
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 3-4 tsp of zero size sev

 

Recipe Preparation:

  1. Soak split Bengal gram overnight and in morning as that in mixing jar with ginger and green chilies paste, salt, sugar and water and make thick paste. Add turmeric powder and mix it well.
  2. Now pour the batter in oil greased plate of steamer and steam it for 10 mins
  3. Remove from heat and allow it to cool down at room temperature
  4. Do some random pieces using your palms and strain it using flour sieve
  5. Now in a frying pan add oil, temper mustered seeds, asafetida and green chilies
  6. Add water and strained khamani we made
  7. Allow it to be at room temperature
  8. Garnishing it with pomegranate seeds, coriander leaves and sev and serve it with dates chutney!
