Gujarati Sour and sweet pancakes/meetha and khara pudla

This is very quick and easy Gujarati recipe! The sweet and sour pancakes being made separately and being served like sandwich which makes it very delicious with having sweet and sour taste together! Kids would really love it also it’s very healthy!
Preparation time: 10 mins, Cooking time: 10 mins



  • 1 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1/2 cup grated tomatoes
  • 1 finely chopped green chillies
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • Pinch of Asafetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Cup water
  • Oil to make pancakes
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Oil to make pancakes
  • Tomato ketchup
  • green chutney



To make sour pancakes:
  1. Mix all the ingredients and mix it well and set aside for 10 mins.
  2. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) on a medium flame and grease it lightly with oil.
  3. Pour 1/4th portion of the mixture on it and spread it evenly using a ladle to make a thin pancake.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of coriander and cook on both the sides until it become golden brown.
  5. Make other sour pancakes as well.
To make sweet pancakes:
  1. In a mixing bowl, soak jaggery in water for few mins until it melts properly.
  2. Now add whole wheat flour and mix it well using whisk so no lumps arise.
  3. Heat non stick tava and grease a oil on it on medium flame.
  4. Pour 1/4th portion of mixture using ladle and spread it evenly to make thin pancake.
  5. Cook on both the sides until it becomes golden brown. Make others as well.

Place one sour pancake, apply some tomato ketchup and green chutney on it and on top place sweet pancake and cut them into pieces or serve as it is!


My Tip: If you are going to have it in your lunch box, then put tomato ketchup and green chuteny separately and apply later at the time of eating!
